Honor Societies
The
Mystic Order of the Beaver People, or "Beaver" as it is usually
referred to, is open to anyone who is in the Junior Division or older.
Beaver candidates are asked to show their commitment to Camp
Kooch-i-ching's ideals by volunteering their time to help make
improvements on the campsite, in addition to setting positive examples
by helping others while in camp and on their wilderness trips.
The
Grand Medicine Society is the more prestigious of Kooch's two honor
societies. It is open to 8-week Intermediates, and first year staff men
who were candidates as campers. Candidates for the Grand Medicine are
expected to set the best of examples, to pursue the ideals of service
and do all they can to help others have a happy and successful summer.
In
pursuing the ideals of service, candidates for the Grand Medicine will
participate in some significant project on the island during the course
of the summer. The campers who take part in these often walk away with
a great sense of accomplishment, knowing that their impression left on
the island will last for years to come.
